Coming only second to Brazil, Sri Lanka is known to produce over 50 varieties of gem stone. The most reputed gem that Sri Lanka produces is the blue sapphire due to its deep intense blue combined with high lustre. It’s believed that 2/3 of the island nation has the potential for containing gems.
