Oldest Living Human-Planted Tree In The World
The “Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi”, was a branch from the original Bodhi tree that Lord Buddha sat under when he attained enlightenment. It was planted in the Mahamewna Gardens, Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka in 249 B.C.
The sacred branch was brought in by the daughter of ‘The Great Emperor Asoka’ of India. Definitely a must see if visiting Sri Lanka.
