Sri Lanka Leads South Asia

Sri Lanka has the life expectancy, literacy rate and GPI (genuine progress indicator) which is the best in South Asia and on par with that of the developed world. The standard of living in Sri Lanka is medium on the Human Development Index (HDI) which is what is holding it back.

Sri Lanka is also a global citizen by being a notably founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), SAARC, and the Colombo Plan. The country also served as a non-permanent member of the UN security council between 1960-65  and is the 16th largest troop contributing country to the UN.
