Oldest Alcoholic Spirit in the World
Sri Lanka developed the world’s first alcoholic spirit thousands of years ago. Arrack, (named after ‘Arakku’ in Sinhalese) said to be the father of modern day Vodka. It is gathered from fermented coconut flowers or sugarcane. Sri Lanka is currently the largest manufacturer of the beverage in the world.
