Milk Rice (Kiri Bath)

(Usually served with onion sambol)



250 g rice
250 ml water
375 ml thick coconut milk
1/2 tsp salt


  1. Wash the rice and place in a pan with the water.
  2. Bring to the boil and simmer until rice is soft.
  3. Add coconut milk and salt and mix well with a wooden spoon.
  4. Cover the pan and simmer over a low flame until the milk is absorbed.
  5. Place the rice on a shallow serving dish and flatten smooth. Cut into diamond or square shapes to serve.
